“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit” Romans 8:1
Believers love to hear when a preacher teaches, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.” It is a happy message but not the complete truth as the message is to continue with the sentence, ... who do not walk according to the flesh, but to the Spirit.” This is the painful truth for those who are not walking according to the Spirit or be led by the Spirit.
The Holy Spirit works through our human spirit, while the enemy works through our carnal or flesh (2 Corinthians 10:4-6). There are two kinds of life among believers. One is a life full of things and the other is a life full of Christ.
Watchman Nee wrote:- "There are two kinds of sin before God: the sin of rebellion - not doing what one has been told: and the sin of presumption - doing what one has not been told to do (Ps. 19:13). Rebellion is failing to do what God has charged one to do. Presumption is doing what God has not commanded at all."
Paul taught in Galatians 5:16-18, “I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.”
The increase of our knowledge of the Holy Scriptures is not spiritual growth. Only the increase of Christ in us is spiritual growth. Walking by our flesh is a sinful nature that hinders us from walking in the will of God. We need to be filled with the fullness of the the Spirit of God for God gives the Spirit without limit (John 3:34), asking God to strengthen our human spirit so that we may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:16-19).
Galatians 2:20 says, “it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” If Christ lives in us fully, then we will walk and be led by His Spirit ... Romans 8:14, “because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.” Romans 8:15, “for you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”
The mark of a disciple or Sonship is one who is full of the Holy Spirit working with God in Oneness as Jesus said in John 14:11, “Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.”
When we are full of His Spirit, the words that we speak carry great power and authority in the realm of the spirit that will trigger miracles, signs and wonders to heal, deliver and transform lives. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 2:4, “My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power.”
To God be the power and glory for ever and ever. Amen!
God bless you!
