God is a Consuming Fire (Part 2)

God is a Consuming Fire. Hence, it is an honour to be chosen as an earthly vessel to have the Spirit of Glory and of God resting upon him (1 Peter 4:14) that makes him a flame of fire (Hebrews 1:7). And demons could see and quickly recognise the high power and authority that the vessel carries in the realm of the Spirit.

1 Peter 4:14

“If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.”

Hebrews 1:7

“In speaking of the angels he says,

'He makes his angels spirits,

and his servants flames of fire.”

The flames of fire resting upon the vessel will draw people to him wherever he ministers.

When people asked John Wesley how he drew many large crowds and led so many people to Christ, he told them, "I just set myself on fire for God and people come to see me burn. Just remember that you have no right to pray to receive the fire of God unless you are willing to be the fuel of God."

Leonard Ravenhill quoted this:- “You never have to advertise a fire. Everyone comes running when there’s a fire. Likewise, if your church is on fire, you will not have to advertise it. The community will already know it.”

Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. If we desire our body to burn, what God requires of us is obedience and allowing Him to have the full rights (and title deed) to our ‘house’. If you are staying in your own house; surely you will keep your own house clean and comfortable for your dwelling. Likewise, God will clean the temple that He wants to stay in.

Carrying the presence of the Holy Spirit is the ONLY evidence in my ministry. The reason why I am very sure that God’s presence is resting on me is because my entire body is a torch burning with the Holy Spirit’s fire anointing (Hebrews 1:7).

The following scriptures are further evidence:

When a vessel is carrying the presence of the Holy Spirit, the spirit of diversion will try to hinder the works of God, by creating disunity and stirring up jealousy just like during the period recorded in the book of Acts  (Acts 5:17, 13:45, 17:5) with common insults that the man of God is unbiblical and stealing God’s glory especially when large groups of people began to crowd around him for prayers.

Acts 5:16-17:-

“Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by evil spirits, and all of them were healed.

Then the high priest and all his associates, who were members of the party of the Sadducees, were filled with jealousy.”

Acts 13:45

“When the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy. They began to contradict what Paul was saying and heaped abuse on him.”

Acts 17:5

“But other Jews were jealous; so they rounded up some bad characters from the marketplace, formed a mob and started a riot in the city. They rushed to Jason's house in search of Paul and Silas in order to bring them out to the crowd.”

Most churches can still function as they always do, even without the presence of the Holy Spirit. Most of them have their weekly programs already planned out for the whole year. Often, these are man’s ideas according to the will and decisions of a committee.

As for my calling in the Body of Christ, ‘minus the Spirit I have no ministry’. I require a close intimacy with the Holy Spirit that I can work with Him in a Spirit of Oneness as recorded in the following scriptures:

John 10:37-38

“Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father. But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.”

John 14:11

“Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves.”

We must always aim at maintaining our house in a spotless condition for the Holy Spirit to dwell in order to minister with greater power and authority and yield quicker result (2 Tim 2:20-21).

2 Timothy 2:20-21

“But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.”

The fire of God will burn and purify us till we are able to see things that others could not.  Every believer must burst through the gravity of the flesh to understand the freedom and the truth. The freedom is the truth where we knit in unity with Christ with the mind and DNA of Christ, bringing us into maturity, resulting in the image and likeness of Christ (Ephesians 3:16-19).

This bursting through the gravity of the flesh is like a rocket being launched into space. To do this, we need God’s fire power which gives us the ‘push’ and free us from the gravity. Once we are freed from this gravity of the flesh, we are then free to work with God in unity (John 14:11). As a spacecraft in orbit can see earth more clearly, so will a man put in such a position see things that other cannot see.

To God be the honour, power and glory!

God bless!
