“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD” Isaiah 55:8
“All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one can hold back his hand or say to him: “What have you done? “Daniel 4:35
A decade ago, a highly anointed lady argued with me about her disagreement to a certain manifestation of the Spirit. As she was arguing about her disagreement, the Holy Spirit came upon her and she manifested in the gift that she was strongly opposing. In the meeting, His manifest presence was so tangible so God Himself gave her the encounter. Argument ended.
In Churches today, some religiously-minded people attempt to put a stop to any new move of God that goes against their presumed knowledge of how God has operated in their own lives. This idolatry of the past causes people to react in fear as they try to defend God’s past behaviour. They do not realise that our God is a God of Life, and life is all about creating something new.
Some are just too quick to criticise and judge, fearful of what they do not know or have experienced. Can a person preach about the Baptism of Fire if he has not experienced what is like to be baptised with Fire? Or a man who has never experienced what is like to be ‘born again’ (John 3:3-5) preaching a sermon on “salvation through the new birth.” It is like a bald-head selling hair-restorer. Who would buy the hair-restorer from the bald-heads?
We should not speak evil of things that we do not know as Peter said in 2 Peter 2:10-12, “and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries, whereas angels, who are greater in power and might, do not bring a reviling accusation against them before the Lord. But these, like natural brute beasts made to be caught and destroyed, speak evil of the things they do not understand, and will utterly perish in their own corruption.”
And in Jude 1:8-9, “Likewise also these dreamers defile the flesh, reject authority, and speak evil of dignitaries. Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”
A Christian desiring to walk in the Spirit should seek godly counsel from mature God-fearing Christians, especially those elderly saints who know the Lord intimately and have walked in the Spirit for long time. Naturally, we will not seek out a high school student and ask him about things that are being taught in the university level. Likewise, we must seek counsel from such Christians, who understand the spiritual realm, who are able to hear, have faith and obey the voice of the Lord ... in the multitude of Counsellors there is safety (Proverbs 11:14).
