It is a heavenly treasure to be an anointed vessel of honour of God (Matthew 13:44). However, we must be a willing and obedient vessel that God can use (Isaiah 1:19) and pass the tests of severe trials that God puts along our journey. For the Lord to transform us into vessels of honour, we need His grace, mercy and favour to be able to overcome the fire of trials and the continuously thorough burning process of cleansing, refining and purification. We will then be strong to withstand the earthly temptations and will cherish living truly a fully surrendered consecrated life, holy and pleasing to God (Romans 12:1-2) with deeper love and zeal for God (Matthew 22:37-38) which is the greatest commandment.
2 Timothy 2:20-21
But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.
What is a vessel of honour?
If the Spirit of Glory and of God is resting upon you.
1 Peter 4:14
If you are reproached (insulted) for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified.
Isaiah 60:1
Arise, shine;
For your light has come!
And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you.
Isaiah 60:2
For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth,
And deep darkness the people;
But the LORD will arise over you,
And His glory will be seen upon you.
Isaiah 60:5
Then you shall see and become radiant,
And your heart shall swell with joy;
Because the abundance of the sea shall be turned to you,
The wealth of the Gentiles shall come to you.
Exodus 34:29
The Shining Face of Moses
Now it was so, when Moses came down from Mount Sinai (and the two tablets of the Testimony were in Moses’ hand when he came down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him.
Exodus 34:30
So when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him.
How does God, the Consuming Fire purify an earthly vessel?
Zechariah 13:9
This third I will bring into the fire;
I will refine them like silver
and test them like gold.
They will call on my name
and I will answer them;
I will say, ‘They are my people,’
and they will say, ‘The LORD is our God.’ ”
Malachi 3:2-4
But who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner’s fire or a launderer’s soap. He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then the LORD will have men who will bring offerings in righteousness, and the offerings of Judah and Jerusalem will be acceptable to the LORD, as in days gone by, as in former years.
Isaiah 4:4
The Lord will wash away the filth of the women of Zion; he will cleanse the bloodstains from Jerusalem by a spirit of judgment and a spirit of fire.
Luke 3:16:17
John answered them all, “I baptize you with water. But one more powerful than I will come, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. His winnowing fork is in his hand to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
When a vessel of God is cleansed, refined and purified, he has no desire for worldly things but only desires to be intimate with God in His dwelling mountain.
The following scriptures trace AOF Global’s founder, Paul K P Ang’s journey in his pursuit to be a vessel of honour:
Psalms 27:4
One thing I ask of the LORD,
this is what I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD
and to seek him in his temple.
What will be the consequence when the Spirit of Glory and of Gods rest upon you?
Psalms 69:9
for zeal for your house consumes me,
and the insults of those who insult you fall on me.
John 6:60,66
Many Disciples Desert Jesus
On hearing it, many of his disciples said, “This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it? From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.
2 Timothy 1:15
Paul wrote to Timothy, “You know that everyone in the province of Asia has deserted me, including Phygelus and Hermogenes.”
Be blessed!
